"Backburner is one clever lyric, but the beauty of the song is that it isn't cloying or cutesy.  The arrangement is steady and unswerving, like on the cruise-control mode in your car...."Backburner" conveys regret without ever sounding maudlin.  To extend the metaphor, it stays on simmer and never overheats."

- Rolling Stone

"I think I have my favorites then another slays me. Maia is a master in her absolute prime — out of the ballpark once again, but this one really ignites everything that is different and brilliant about her writing, singing, songwriting and production. I’m running out of superlatives! "

– BONNIE RAITT

Roscoe & Etta

Roscoe and Etta are the cranky old guitars on which Maia Sharp and Anna Schulze wrote their “self-titled” new album "Roscoe & Etta.

“Finding the right combination is essential in cooking, love and music. Roscoe & Etta have hit the jackpot with a combination of thoughtful lyrics, beautiful harmonies and great guitar work.”

Broken headlights single FINAL.jpg

"Broken Headlights" by Roscoe & Etta

The first single from Maia's duo with artist/writing/production partner Anna Schulze. Anna and Maia are performing everything except cello which is masterfully played by Vanessa Freebairn-Smith. Written by Maia and Joey Ryan of The Milk Carton Kids years ago, it was time to give it another life and it sounds like "Broken Headlights" was just waiting for Roscoe & Etta to come along.

I Need This To Be Love (2017)

Written by: Maia Sharp & Mark Addison. Performed by: Mark Addison, Daris Adkins, Vanessa Freebairn-Smith, Fritz Lewak and Maia.  Photography: Sharon Bays. Mix & Art Direction: Randy Sharp. Mastered by Yes Master Studios.

Maia's first release Hardly Glamour (Ark 21) kicked it all off and earned her the support of her peers and beyond. This year marks the 20th anniversary of that memorable debut and its first single "I Need This To Be Love." So Maia reworked, rerecorded, remixed and remastered this beauty to have a whole new life 20 years later.

Everything Waits to Be Noticed Art Garfunkel with Maia Sharp and Buddy Mondlock

Mutual friend, singer/songwriter/producer Billy Mann thought it'd be a good idea for Maia, Buddy and Art to write together, record together and then go on tour.  He was right.  Produced by Billy and released by Blue Note/Manhattan in 2002 this album represents Art's first recorded co-writes and Buddy's and Maia's priceless experience with a legend.

Hardly Glamour

Released in 1997 by Ark 21 Records (the reincarnate of IRS Records) Maia's debut album includes some lasting favorites like "I Need This To Be Love."  There was a label vs. distributor dispute that came to a head a couple weeks into the release so this one may be hard to find but Amazon has been good about having used and import copies.
